Robert Browning - My Last Duchess and Porphyria\'s Lover

In both poems, Browning portrays the romance of two people in love but unluckily both then subtlety with the murder of one of the lovers. both characters (The Duke of Ferrara and Porphyrias lover) are preoccupy with fountain trying to pay back and wield it to their advantage. They are both also conscious of the genial class within their human relationship which may be a resulting factor to the ca recitation of the killing. However, the expression the characters tell the story are completely opposite as the Duke tries to hide his wrongdoings but feature subtle hints to the reader whereas Porphyrias lover states it confidently with no regret as deity has not said a word.\nIn My put out Duchess, the story is narrated through and through the office of the narcissistic Duke in a dramatic monologue. Throughout the poem, the Duke attempts to issue in control of the confabulation and physical exertions name dropping to impinge on the emissary. Although the intent of impress ing is there, what comes across is a negative characteristic mark of the Dukes that conveys him as fruitless; when he mentions Fra Pandolf three generation in the poem; and uses his wealthiness to gain higher power over others. The irrational jealousy of the joy into the Duchess cheek that yet appears when Fra Pandolf is present also proves the autocratic and egocentric personality of the Duke which is shown throughout the poem; this is publicised through the overuse of pronouns like I and me which hints to the high opinion of himself and his egotistical personality. \nThe Duke is overall very genitive case over the Duchess, even when she is dead, as he describes her as My closing Duchess and controls who she looked on through the use of the curtain being draw to cover the portrait. However, it is proven that he does not have much control due to the grammatical construction of the poem as the use of enjambment suggests that he is go impatient and perhaps umbrageous tha t she is making him feel this way aga...
